The seventeen dollar calzone.

So, I made the mistake of using my old antiquated (2000) computer to try to post something on Sunday.  Blogged for an hour and tried to post - Lost everything.  Felt like I was in college all over again. (Honestly, Professor...)

It was this great (and very witty) post about the sale of ticket prices, which everyone is writing about these days.  But my post included a joke about the fact that if I am going to pay $2500 for a ticket to see the friggin Yankees, Derek Jeter better take me out after AND let me wear his bathrobe the next morning (Sorry, hub - Derek Jeter still happens to be really hot)

Anyway, it all started with my story of going to Cafe Pesto in Hawaii and spotting a calzone on the menu for $17.  (Trust me, this will come full circle) Now I know it was Hawaii, but this was Hilo(*) not Maui(****) and for me, this was the tipping point.  14 bucks for a calzone? Okay.  17 bucks?  That is way too expensive for basically cheese and dough in a funky little half moon shape.  I ended up getting a pizza for like 12 bucks and it was tres delicious.  But this is beside the point.

Suddenly, anything and everything overpriced is now referred to as the $17 calzone.  A donut at Beverly Hills' Fratelli's for $2.50 each? - $17 calzone.  Range Rover lease for $850.00 a month - $17.00 calzone.  Good tickets to a nice ballpark? - $17 calzone.

The fact that New York is charging what it is for tickets to the new (publicly financed, thank you) stadium is atrocious.  The fact that someone is paying it is even worse, but I won't go there.  My original post had hyperlinks a-go-go, but now I will just suffice to say that ballparks are charging way too much for tickets, and it is showing. Nobody wants to pay for the $17.00 calzone.  Me included.  We usually go to ten or more games a year, but this year who knows. Add into the equation of the overpriced beers, food and parking(Yes, Dodgers Stadium, I am pointing in your direction) and you have a very expensive day.

This is my post for the day.

Greetings

If you haven't seen "My Boys" yet. I highly suggest you check it out.  The main character, PJ is a sportswriter with her own column.  My hero.  It's on TBS at 10:30 Pac Time.  Very funny, and worth watching.

I am probably the only person who makes jewelry at the same time I am watching baseball, specifically the Angels and whoever is playing on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball. Love the Sports Center on the ESPN, too.  I am a girl who loves sports. I'm not necessarily a tomboy, but I love baseball and football.  Love 'em.  So I'll be writing about sports in this blog, not mascara or wedges (it's a shoe style), but sports.  Have fun and feel free to comment.
